Q1: Does Informa Markets have a security contingency plan in place in the event of an emergency?

The safety and security of exhibitors, visitors and our staff is our top priority. We are working in close coordination with the venue management teams in ensuring a safe environment in the exhibition venues. Our emergency response plans are ready to address various scenarios. Security will also be enhanced to beef up access monitoring and control.

Q2: Will you be enhancing your shuttle bus services to cover not just your usual pick-up and drop-off points? What if there were transport disruptions?

Yes, we are regularly reviewing and finetuning the priority routes for additional shuttle bus services. We will have shuttle buses ready to serve show attendees travelling from the HKCEC to the Eastern and Western districts of Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, and vice versa, if the situation calls for it. We will also designate major hotels in select districts as pick-up and drop-off points for show attendees. Similar contingency measures have also been arranged for exhibitors and visitors headed to and travelling from AWE.

Q4: Could you please share details about your visitor promotion campaign? What are the incentives that you have offered visitors to date?

Our visitor promotion campaign is in full swing, and we have launched several initiatives to encourage buyers to experience Asia’s Fashion Jewellery & Accessories Fair – September.

We have engaged the services of a major travel agency in China, which is offering special hotel rates to qualified visitors. We have also been holding a series of road shows at the Shenzhen Jewellery Exchanges and engaging with buying groups from China.

We are offering 10,000 complimentary hotel room nights exclusively for trade buyers invited by exhibitors. Each exhibitor may nominate three significant buyers who will be entitled to two free consecutive hotel room nights during the September Fair show dates. The deadline for the submission of the filled-out forms has been extended to 12 September 2019.

In addition, we have launched a massive telemarketing campaign to reach out to 50,000 buyers from all over the world – including Trade Buyer ID (TBID) holders, buyers who attended the show’s 2018 edition, and those who have pre-registered this year. Many of these buyers have already been contacted and have confirmed their attendance. Efforts to convince other potential visitors – who may still be considering signing up for the show – that everything is being done to address their concerns on security matters and the fair’s operational requirements are ongoing.

We are personally calling and inviting our clubElite buyers to the fair.

Additional online promotions focused on China, Southeast Asia and international visitors are ongoing.

We are also offering hotel sponsorships to first-time international visitors.

Informa Markets is also making the most out of its powerful online platform – targeted eBlasts, websites and social media channels – to connect with and entice visitors to the show.

Q5: What are the backup arrangements for the show’s move-in and move-out dates for exhibitors?

We are working closely on a contingency plan with contractors and forwarders, including an earlier move-in schedule for AWE exhibitors (download schedule) and extended move-out periods if necessary.

The fair dates remain unchanged: 16 –19 September 2019 at the AWE.

9FJ Networking Hub: Staying ahead of the curve

Top fashion jewellery and accessories sourcing event to kick off on September 16

Asia’s Fashion Jewellery & Accessories Fair – September (9FJ) is once again proving that it has its finger on the pulse of what’s next and trending in the accessories world with its line-up of special events exclusive to show attendees.

Scheduled for September 16 to 19 at the AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE), 9FJ will bring together about 250 established manufacturers, up-and-coming design talents and artisanal brands in one of the industry’s most diverse and content-packed fashion jewellery and accessories sourcing events. It will be held concurrently with the biggest global jewellery marketplace in the industry – the September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, which is scheduled for September 16 to 20 at the AWE and from September 18 to 22 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Preparations for 9FJ are proceeding smoothly despite recent public incidents in Hong Kong. Operations at the Hong Kong International Airport have returned to normal. The Airport Authority has stepped up security, and a court injunction has been secured against activities that interfere with the proper use of the airport except in the designated areas in the arrivals hall.

Informa Markets recognises and is addressing the concerns expressed by some exhibitors and visitors on security matters and the fair’s operational requirements. Committed to providing a secure, safe and enjoyable trade show experience to exhibitors, visitors and its staff, the trade show organiser has adopted a series of contingency plans in close collaboration and partnership with the venue management teams, contractors and suppliers. These measures are designed to respond to potential incidents that may happen outside the normal range of the show’s operations, including special move-in and move-out arrangements at AWE, and regular updates on traffic conditions before and throughout the show period. Updates will be regularly posted on the show’s official website and social media platforms.

Fair Highlights

With its high concentration of design talents, and fashion jewellery and accessories manufacturers, 9FJ provides a dynamic and exciting space where visitors can connect with industry leaders, influencers and creatives.

“We have rounded up experts who will share their insights and studies on topics encompassing design directions, colour trends and 3D printing technologies,” says Celine Lau, Director of Jewellery Fairs at Informa Markets. “We will also have buzz-worthy sessions focusing on visual merchandising strategies that are tied to a seller’s social media channels, and targeted social media marketing. Clearly, these topics are timely and relevant to those who are serious about growing their fashion jewellery and accessories business.”

To date, six sessions will be held at the Networking Hub – a space within 9FJ that encourages collaboration, learning and innovation.

On September 16, topics will focus on colour trends and visual merchandising. Maryann Wong, Director of Sales & Marketing at Pantone Asia-Pacific, will deliver a presentation on “Colour As Oasis For Autumn/Winter 2020/21.” The key colour trends, according to Pantone, are “neon, rich saturated shades and strong, modern pastels with texture, reflection and shine acting as integral partners in the way colours are seen and executed.”

Also on September 16, Gladys Chan, Design Director of GLADC studio, and Roland Wong, 3D design expert and jewellery designer, will highlight the importance of delivering a unified message through visual merchandising and social media marketing.

3D printing technologies will be the prevailing themes of the two seminars scheduled for September 17. Li Bin, Design Director of Shenzhen YiZhi Technology Co Ltd and Guangdong LongQueen Jewelry Co Ltd, will focus his talk on  “Going Retro Through 3D Printing Technologies” while Qi Huang, General Manager of Jiangsu Totus Technology Co Ltd, will give a presentation on “New 3D Printing Technology For Mass Jewellery Production.”

On September 18, Michael Leow, Asia-Pacific Sales & Marketing Head of Fashion Snoops, will talk about the trends that will sweep the fashion jewellery and accessories scene in the Fall/Winter 2020/21 season. Optimising social media channels for one’s business will likewise be the focus of a panel discussion to be hosted by Female Entrepreneurs Worldwide, an online-to-offline business platform that aims to connect, inspire and empower women for entrepreneurial success.
